Emelie of Angel Baby Candles contacted me a few weeks ago, to do a giveaway of her beautiful handmade candles here on the blog. I am excited to share her work and a bit of her story with you! Emelie is also a part of my calendar for Lost for Words this year!
Last year my husband Mike and I discovered that we were pregnant with our first child. All was going really well until we hit 27 weeks. I suddenly became severely preeclamptic and was hospitalized. After many tests, far too many days on Magnesium, and steroid shots, we had Landon at 29 weeks by emergency c-section on April 9th, 2012. Landon was doing really great. He was in the NICU for a month then came home. Landon was such an awesome laid-back little guy. Our lives changed, again, on June 28th when we woke up early in the morning and discovered he was gone from SIDS.
I started making these candles for our families and other bereaved parents we met through our local Share group. It spread from there. I have found it very comforting to help other parents honor their little ones. There are so many wonderful people in the loss community. I know none of us ever thought we would be part of this group, but it is an unfortunate honor to know you all. I look forward to making a candle for the lucky winner.
