12 Days of Christmas With You in Heaven 2012

Hello friends,

Today kicks off the second year of the “12 Days of Christmas With You in Heaven” series. I hope you find some comfort, hope and inspiration along the way. Some amazing ladies have stepped forward to share their words, stories, crafts, memorial ideas and even giveaways with you, to hopefully make this time of year a little easier after experiencing the loss of a child.

I’ll hand it over to Lisa, who is sharing a bit of her story and a giveaway…

I am so honoured and so excited to be involved in this series. Since we found out we were expecting our first child, I was really looking forward to his first Christmas. When Finley died earlier this year, I knew that for me Christmas would never be the same again, because his little life would be missing from our celebrations.

As Christmas approaches, I have a heavy weight in my stomach thinking about what should have been. I’ve spent some time knitting Christmas stockings for my family, and as a way to involve Finley and keep him at the forefront of my mind and of our family, I of course will be knitting one for him as well.

I decided when I saw that Fran was hosting this series that I so wanted to be able to do something for another bereaved family. In the spirit of Christmas, I would like to give a hand knit stocking away to one of Fran’s readers. You can choose which colours you would like, and it can be personalised with a name up to 6 characters long. I hope that in some small way, seeing your babies name on a Christmas stocking made just for them will help to bring some comfort this holiday season.

All you need to do is enter the giveaway below, giveaway ends December 5th:

Thankfulness Giveaway

It’s been kind of a weird past few days. The only way to overcome negativity is to throw out some love, some positivity back into the world so here we go:) It’s been a while since I’ve done a giveaway here anyway!

The last two pieces are inspired by the 30 days of Thankfulness I see everyone doing, and there will be three winners – one canvas to each winner. The first piece you see is inspired by Princess Nevaeh. When Amy, her mama, shared this quote with me a few weeks ago I fell in love!! It is perfect for her fighting spirit.

All you have to do is use the Rafflecopter to enter. Three winners will be chosen in a few days!

Anyway, my lovely friend Beth is a blooming Houston-based photographer who is giving away a free photo session to one lucky reader! If you are in the area, and looking to have family portraits, wedding pictures, maternity photos, engagement photos or even something seasonal like Halloween pictures or Christmas this is for you!

Celebrating the New Shop Look & a Giveaway

I decided a while back that the old look wasn’t doing the canvases any justice. Nor was the overall theme. I mean the whole idea behind the subway art canvases is to celebrate life.

Celebrate it by creating pieces from your favorite photos and quotes, and throwing them up on a wall for everyone to see in your home as a collage.

But the new look has me absolutely in lurve! Click here to visit.

A sweet client sent this to me a while back, of how she displayed her twelve pieces.

Many people have asked me if they could use their own photos, and the answer is always ABSOLUTELY YES!! I can even use your photos that are not instagrams, and apply a filter to make them appear as though they are instagrams, or of course- crop them into a square and use them as they are. I always send you a proof for approval in this case to make sure the result meets and exceeds your expectations!

Today, I am giving away one piece to TWO lucky winners! You can choose a piece with a quote, or use your prize with one of your all time favorite photos. Please use the Rafflecopter below to enter :)

Best of luck to everyone.

ps- this is open to everyone – worldwide.

Radiate e-class Giveaway!

I was never that girl who always wanted to be a photographer. I didn’t
carry a camera with me everywhere I went, and as a kid I hated it when
my mom would set me up in front of a beautiful arrangement spring
flowers and tell me to “Say cheese!”

I did own a camera, but it typically only came out during special
events or vacations. It did give me a way to capture important
memories, but even then I found it to be more of a hassle than an
enhancement during these special times. I’d often come home realizing
I had only taken two or three pictures during a week-long trip,
because I had left my camera tucked away in my purse the entire time.

If I’m being honest, I would have to admit that my camera was a source
of pure frustration back then. I never thought that down the road it
would end up being my lifeline, my source of connection, and a huge
piece of growth on my own personal life journey.

But after the loss of our first daughter Bella that’s what my camera
became. It was a way for me to hide from the world in my moment of
greatest pain, but also reconnect with nature and the world around me.
It was a way for me to still create when my body failed to do so. And
it taught me to love myself and be grateful for each and every moment
I’m given here on earth. These days, I am passionate about teaching
others about how a camera can do the same for them.

  • From behind the lens you can learn what truly weighs on your
heart, and what’s most important to you.
  • From behind the lens you can capture magical moments of your own
personal gratitude, of your unique perspective, and of your special
    life.
  • From behind the lens (+ computer screen) you can learn to utilize
free tools that will transform your photos and your heart into
    artistry and self expression.
  • From behind the lens you can reconnect with yourself, with
    others, and with the world.
  • From behind the lens you can discover light – golden, warm and bright.
  • From behind the lens you can come along with me and you’ll simply
    radiate.

And on to the giveaway…

Cynthia from Ten Thousand Oaks is giving away an Abalone Mother of Pearl Iridescent Fan or Light Pull with Glass Beads, as seen below.

About the artist + her shop:

Standard fan and light pulls are about the most hideous inventions attached to home decor.  Why can’t function be beautiful?  This will reflect the light so wonderfully and truly add a lot to your fan or pull light.  The mother of pearl shell measures 2 inches tall by over 1 1/4 inch wide.  Clear chip beads with iridescence make up the majority of the pull.  A variety of colorful glass beads accent the pull, including one foil lined glass bead.  A faceted purple glass piece dangles from a gold chain.  The pull is made with beading wire for strength and securely wrapped to a ball chain.  From the bottom of the mother of pearl shell to the top of the wire wrapping is about 8 1/2 inches.  The ball chain above that measures 5 1/2 inches and can be shortened by a simple snip with a scissors or wire clipper (just remove the connecter piece and reattach) to suit the length you prefer.  This is a one of a kind piece from my Etsy shop, Ten Thousand Oaks.
I’m starting to set up Ten Thousand Oaks to help defray costs of organizing and delivering blankets, hats, scrapbooks, and clothing/burial wraps for hospitals throughout Northern Minnesota and Eastern North Dakota.
